For the Dad's, two great soccer books come to mind. 1) Fever Pitch by Nick Hornby -- about a long-suffering Arsenal fan who is a bit of a man-child. Much better than the Red Sox film version; and 2) Brilliant Orange by David Winner -- subtitled "the neurotic genius of Dutch football", this is a great introduction to the Dutch at a time that their team is seeing great success.
How about the boys? Any suggestions for soccer or Independence Day books? What is everyone else up to?
I work next to a Frenchman, so I am getting all the World Cup I need these days!
ReplyDeleteI just finished A Walk in the Woods, by Bill Bryson: a funny tale about trying to hike the Apalacian trail.
Next up is Green Glass Sea for me - I want to read about a place hotter than here!
