Happy Fourth Of July

Hope everyone is off to a great start of the summer. Ben and I have enjoyed watching The World Cup and are psyched for the Fourth of July celebrations.

For the Dad's, two great soccer books come to mind. 1) Fever Pitch by Nick Hornby -- about a long-suffering Arsenal fan who is a bit of a man-child. Much better than the Red Sox film version; and 2) Brilliant Orange by David Winner -- subtitled "the neurotic genius of Dutch football", this is a great introduction to the Dutch at a time that their team is seeing great success.

How about the boys? Any suggestions for soccer or Independence Day books? What is everyone else up to?

  1. I work next to a Frenchman, so I am getting all the World Cup I need these days!
I just finished A Walk in the Woods, by Bill Bryson: a funny tale about trying to hike the Apalacian trail.
Next up is Green Glass Sea for me - I want to read about a place hotter than here!
